A highly regarded landscape painter, Émile Mangenot painted views of the various regions of France, and in particular scenes of Brittany and Normandy.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he won a silver medal in 1957; in the same year a painting of his was acquired by the State. Although it was not until 1958 that he had his first one-man show, at the Galerie André Weil in Paris, it was followed by several more in the 1960’s and 1970’s.
